The Cortland County Historical Society has been closely monitoring the rapidly changing situation with COVID-19. We have many unknown visitors who stop by routinely from areas outside of Cortland County. Our volunteers and members are of the utmost importance to us, and as such, our Board of Trustees held a special meeting this week and is exercising an “abundance of caution” as we move ahead in this time of uncertainty.

Effective immediately, we are suspending our volunteer program for an undetermined period as we continue to monitor the progression of the novel coronavirus. Volunteers are asked to stay home from regularly scheduled shifts or other volunteer activities.

In addition, on Monday, March 16, we will be implementing distance research only. We will continue to offer free research to our members, but will pull, scan and either email or mail materials to you. We are developing and adding content to our web site to facilitate distance research. Please direct any research requests to this email address:  cchsresearcher@gmail.com.

  • Book Sale scheduled for March 21: to be determined
  • April Lunch and Learn Series: reschedule for July
  • The Sounds of Cortland Dinner at Tinelli’s scheduled for April 24: rescheduled for Wednesday, September 23, 2020. We will be making a separate announcement about the dinner. We will also be contacting all ticket holders and sponsors over the next week.
  • Coffee Time with Volunteers scheduled for April 7: cancelled
